How To Find Us

Pontefract Racecourse is brilliantly situated just half a mile from Junction 32 of the M62 on the outskirts of Pontefract.

With links with the A1, M1 and M18 all within 10 miles of the Racecourse, it’s an easy place to get to and find.

Leave the M62 at Junction 32 (this is the same junction as Xscape).

Follow the signs for the Racecourse towards Pontefract town centre.

As you follow the road towards the Town Centre, the Racecourse is situated on the right hand side in Pontefract Park.

There is a bus stop just outside Pontefract Park and it is easy to walk to the Racecourse from this stop.

There are 3 stations in Pontefract – Monkhill, Baghill and Tanshelf.

Pontefract Tanshelf is more or less opposite the entrance to the Park, whereas Monkhill and Baghill stations are fairly centrally located in Pontefract and are around 2 to 3 miles from the course. If you don’t fancy the walk through the Town, taxis are available at the stations.

There is a fourth station at Glasshoughton which adjoins the Xscape complex. This is a couple of miles from the Racecourse. If you have some time to kill, from near Glasshoughton Station (starting in the car park to B&Q!), there is a lovely walk through the Park to the Racecourse. It will take around 45 minutes.
